With the slogan 'Every woman deserves to be first', this fragrance from Van Cleef & Arpels began a trend as the first scent to be launched by a jeweller. At the time in 1976 it was regarded as a risky move but many followed including Cartier, Boucheron and Mauboussin. The thinking behind the creation of First was that jewels and perfumes are closely linked as they both embellish women. 'Perfume and jewels are women's two ornaments,' Pierre Arpels used to say. The result is a luxurious, gentle, floral fragrance recommended for romantic wear. Top notes of aldehydes, peach and blackcurrant are fresh and stimulating. Classic jasmine, narcissus, lily of the valley and tuberose are timeless. End notes of sandalwood and vanilla, honey and tonka bean are seductive.
