Starting life as a polo shirt manufacturer, Lacoste was founded in 1933 by Frenchman Rene Lacoste, a keen tennis player who created the first known instance of sports performance clothing. This white shirt made from jersey petit piqué fabric which soaked up moisture, was the first piece of clothing to have the brand name on the outside whose green crocodile logo is instantly recognisable. The Lacoste brand now includes a range of fragrances and aftershaves. The first Lacoste fragrance was Lacoste Original Pour Homme, released in 1984. Recent fragrances include Lacoste Pour Femme, Lacoste Essential, Cool Play and the best selling Touch of Pink range.
