Piz Buin

When Franz Greiter, a young chemistry student suffered severe sunburn whilst climbing Piz Buin a mountain on the Swiss-Austrian border in 1938 it inspired him to create a product to protect the skin against the sun’s adverse affects. This became the world’s first sun protection product that was launched in 1946. In 1962 Piz Buin invented the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) system that is still used today. 1975 saw the first waterproof sun protection and the company has been at the forefront of technology, introducing sunscreens with UVA and UVB broad spectrum filters. Piz Buin now have a range of sunscreens, self tanners and gradual self tanners.
